Ashperton School this weekend won the first Girls Golden Trophy at Bishops Frome, as local schools came together to enjoy a day of football for the 49th time.

The schools’ A team defeated St Peters Girls in the final, after the two teams saw off Ashperton’s B team and a team from Brockhamton.

Girls had previously been able to play in the Golden Trophy with boys, or play in an annual friendly tournament, but this was the first time the girls had come together to compete for a trophy. Brockhampton won the Golden Trophy itself, their tenth success in the tournament.
